Patrick 'Pat' Leone, a man deeply loved by his family and friends, passed away on January 12, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on November 20, 1958, in Houston, Texas, to Rosalie and Ignatius Leone, Pat's warmth and kindness touched everyone he met. Despite a long battle with Parkinson's Disease, he remained a pillar of strength and love until his final moments, ultimately passing away from cardiac arrest.
Pat was one of five children born to Rosalie and Ignatius Leone. A lifelong Texan, he cherished his home state deeply. Growing up in the Spring Branch area of Houston, Pat graduated from Northbrook High School. His deep desire to care for both people and animals inspired him to pursue a career in criminal justice.
Pat began his career serving the community as a deputy, combating crime in some of the most challenging areas. He was promoted to bike patrol, a role he loved. In his younger years, he participated in a 150-mile bike ride to raise money for charity. He also worked in the Houston school system, fighting to keep kids off drugs and out of gangs, and rescued mistreated animals as an animal cop.
Pat was heavily involved in the Catholic Church, especially St. Jerome Catholic Church in Spring Branch. In his youth, he served as an altar boy and was a cherished member of the church choir.
Pat loved cooking and hosting holiday dinners when his mother, Rosalie, could no longer do it. He enjoyed learning her family recipes and traditions, making sure her holiday spirit and home-cooked meals continued to bring everyone together.
He enjoyed spending time with his friends and entire family-including his parents, siblings, and nieces-at events and gatherings, creating cherished memories together. He also loved spending time with his cousins and many relatives in Bremond, Texas, attending local events and church bazaars. He adored his animals and had many throughout his life, but his last two dogs, Niño and Reba, and his parrot, Cookie, held a special place in his heart.
People and animals were drawn to his kind soul. He had a funny story about how he acquired his beloved parrot, Cookie. One day, while he was outside, she landed on his shoulder and said, 'Hola.' Unable to find her owner, she became his cherished companion ever since.
Pat was also blessed with many close friends and compassionate caregivers who stood by his side to support him in the end.
He was the most caring and selfless person, always putting his family and friends' needs before his own. For at least three family members, he provided end-of-life care in his home, sparing them the need to go to hospice care.
He was preceded in death by his father Ignatius Leone, mother Rosalie Leone, brother Jay Leone, sister Gloria Leone, brother Perry Leone, and his niece Natalie West. He is survived by his sister Mary Boyer, his sister-in-law Leslie Leone, and his nieces: Jennifer Boyer, and husband John DeYoung, Cara Leone, Jamie King, Joan King, Jillian King, Jaquelyn King, Samantha Montejano, and great niece, Juliette DeYoung. Left to cherish his memories are his many cousins, close friends, and other relatives. He is gone but never forgotten, leaving his loving memories in our hearts forever.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, January 30th, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM. Burial will take place on the same day at 1 PM at Forest Park - Lawndale Cemetery. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Patrick, please visit our floral store.
