A Celebration of Patrick's Life will follow services at Puffs in Storm Lake for those wishing to toast a life well lived. Private family burial will be in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Cherokee. Patrick was born September 15th, 1952 in Cherokee, the son of Leslie & Marjorie (Spindler) Mohr. He attended Galva schools until his Senior year when he moved to Cherokee, graduating from there in 1971. It was there he met the love of his life, Jeannie Berglund. They were married October 30th, 1971. To this union 2 children were born, Thomas & Molly. Pat attended college at Iowa Central in Fort Dodge, receiving a degree in ag business. Pat & Jeannie lived in Radcliff, Iowa after college where Pat was the elevator manager. In 1976, they returned to Galva where they took over the family farming operation & lived in the house where he grew up. Raising hogs, corn & soybeans became their life's work. Tragically, Jeannie was killed in a bicycle accident in September 2004.
Pat was able to find love again when he married Leanne Lovstad (Stone) on July 7, 2007. They made their home at the farmstead near Galva until they moved to their lake home in Storm Lake in November of 2018. Pat enjoyed being on the lake to boat & watch the beautiful sunsets. He was also an avid biker & spoke often about his trek with friends on the Mickelson trail in South Dakota on the hottest day of the summer. And of course, RAGBRAI was a favorite event of summer every year. When riding his bike became difficult due to health reasons he switched to convertible rides, enjoying the annual mystery ride with a group of friends "following the leader" to parts unknown.
Pat spent several years driving his side dump semi helping to build the 4 lanes of highway 20. He had to give up semi driving after serious health issues in 2021. This also prompted his departure from the physical part of farming.
Pat loved his family & friends. He will be remembered as a great storyteller & could deliver the punchline of a dirty joke with perfect timing.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Leanne Mohr of Storm Lake; children Tom Mohr (Julie) of Elk Point, SD; Molly (Matt) Werner of Holstein; step-children Stephanie (Justin) Estling of LaPorte City; Jason Lovstad of Urbandale; Ryan (Morgan) Lovstad of Huxley; Josh (Taylor) Lovstad of Johnston; grandchildren Michaela (Tim) Lloyd; Olivia Mohr; Jeannie Arthur; Abbie Estling; Ensley Lovstad; Maverick Lovstad; great grandchildren Jaedyn Lloyd & Addyson Lloyd; sisters Pam (Wes) Johnson & Julia Wolfe plus a host of many other extended family & friends.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents Leslie & Marjorie Mohr; brother Michael Mohr; first wife Jeannie Mohr; great grandson Parker Lloyd; brother-in-law Howard Wolfe; sister-in-law Laura Mohr & nephew John Mohr.
