Patrick O’Connor Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 8, 2025.
Patrick T. O'Connor passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, at the age of 68. He was born in Manitowoc to Bonnie (O'Malley) and Robert O'Connor on February 25, 1957, the youngest of their three children. He went on to graduate from Lincoln High School as part of the Class of 1975 and attended Lakeshore Technical College, obtaining a degree in Machine Tool Operation in 1978. Patrick met the love of his life, Debra Wenzel and they married on August 29th, 1987 in Manitowoc, WI. Together they raised their two children, Dalton and Kelsey. A devoted husband and father, Patrick's greatest joy was his family, and he would do anything to protect and care for them. He especially adored his grandchildren, whose visits and laughter never failed to make him smile.

Patrick will be remembered for his infectious laugh, quick wit, and unwavering sense of humor. He was an avid golfer, a loyal Wisconsin sports fan, and a lover of live music-especially jazz. Patrick never met a slot machine he didn't like, a pastime that brought him plenty of stories (and a few jackpots).

He dedicated his career to serving as a business representative, proudly fighting for working-class people and later becoming the assistant director for District 10 of the IAMAW. For 15 years, he made the daily commute to Milwaukee, a testament to his work ethic and commitment. He was heavily involved in Wisconsin apprenticeship programs, Guide Dogs of America, and served on the Local Lodge 516 for many years.

Patrick is missed, remembered, and survived by his beloved wife Debra, of nearly 38 years; loving children Dalton (Elisa) O'Connor and Kelsey (Luke) Morrow; adored grandchildren Keaton and Sunny; cherished brothers Michael (Ginger) O'Connor and Tim (Barb) O'Connor; dear siblings-in-law Jerry (Debbie) Wenzel, Sue (Kevin) Resch, Annie (Pat) Belongia, and Kathy (Greg) Monka; and caring mother-in-law Sharon Wenzel. He is loved by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends. He is also survived by his extensive collection of casino player cards. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Bonnie O'Connor and father-in-law Gerald Wenzel.

Cremation has occurred at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home Crematory Chapel. Relatives and friends are invited and encouraged to gather for a Celebration of Patrick's Life at Manitowoc Yacht Club, 815 Maritime Dr., Manitowoc, on August 23rd, 2025, at 12 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Patrick's life was rich with laughter, love, and loyalty. His presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those fortunate enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Patrick are appreciated to Guide Dogs of America or Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
