Patrick Aaron O'Neil was born June 9, 1980 to Patty Sue (Goble) and Kent Douglas O'Neil. He was welcomed home by big brother and life-long friend, Jonathan. Patrick was named in honor of his mom, Patty and his paternal grandfather, Gilbert West "Pat" O'Neil.
Patrick, with his stocky little body and blond hair, was the sweetest boy-and just as sweet a grown man. At Akron High School he participated in football, basketball, and baseball, graduating in 1999. After high school he participated in the wholesale distribution business with his dad.
He earned his BA from Colorado State University in Marketing in 2004. As a career, Patrick served as president of Arrowhead Distributing in Scottsbluff and North Platte, Nebraska and O'Neil Distributing in Dodge City, Kansas. Patrick married his elementary school sweetheart, Stephanie Glosson, on June 23, 2007. They lived in North Platte, Nebraska from 2007 to 2011, starting their family there with the arrival of daughter Molly Jo in 2009 and son Macklin Kent in 2011. In 2011, they returned to Akron and continued to build their family with the arrival of son Micky Aaron in 2013. In October, 2023 Pat and Stephanie opened up a car wash in Akron and even named it after their sons–Mick and Mack's Scrub Shack.
Patrick loved family, friends, and community. He was extremely hospitable, opening his home for countless parties and showing up with his friendly smile at events and social gatherings of all kinds. He thrived in spending time with his family, enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas with Stephanie and going fishing, camping and boating with his kids.
He was a wonderful and involved dad, and gave his time and energy helping his kids succeed in sports and academics. He coached many of their sports teams and enjoyed taking them to experience sports events together–he became an avid fan of whatever they were into at the time.
Pat supported his community as an active member of the Akron Lions Club, Akron Elks Lodge #2579, and served as an Akron School District No. R-1 Board member from 2023 to his death. He was an Akron supporter extraordinaire. He shared his time, talents, and treasures with his community. He contributed with a pure heart and a smile.
He will be remembered for many things including his ornery eyes, sly smile, and giant hugs. He appreciated beyond the average guy what people did for him and how they showed up for him and his family. He had standards-high standards for compassionate involvement. He loved deeply and played hard-he was a sweet authentic man who gave his all and appreciated deeply what others gave back.
His early death on January 26, 2025 leaves an indescribably empty hole in the lives of many, and that gives honor to our grateful, authentic, and contributing human-Patrick O'Neil.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Patty, maternal grandparents Mildred (Compton) and Lee Goble, and step-grandmother Mary Jane (Cox) Goble; paternal grandparents, Kathleen Belle (Clifford) and Gilbert West O'Neil.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Jo (Glosson), and precious, adored children Molly Jo (6-14-09) Macklin Kent (11-13-11), Micky Aaron (10-5-13); Brother, Jonathan West and sister-in-law Kimberly Corinda (Horn), nieces Lina Lane O'Neil and Kathleen Louise O'Neil, and nephew Thomas West O'Neil; father, Kent, and step-mother, Betty Jean (McMillion); step-father James McFarland; father-in-law, Rick Glosson and mother-in-law, Jean (McCracken); brother-in-law Derek Glosson (Maria) and niece Tania Garcia; brother-in-law Matt Glosson (Bridget), nieces Gemma Lee and Nora Jean, nephews Solon Leslie and Easton Alan; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
Patrick Aaron O'Neil-one of the good ones.
