Patrick James Norman passed away on June 19, 2023, at his residence in Monroe, Louisiana.
Pat was born May 26, 1945, in Monroe. He attended St. Matthew’s Catholic School and graduated from West Monroe High School in 1963. Upon graduation, Pat enlisted in the U.S. Navy and honorably served as a Machinist’s Mate aboard the USS Truckee and the USS Georgetown.
Throughout his life, Pat worked tremendously hard to give his family the very best. After marrying and moving to Memphis, TN, Pat worked for Forstall and Vickory selling wholesale plumbing supplies. He eventually returned to West Monroe and established his own lucrative business in the oil and gas industry as a manufacturer’s representative for oilfield supplies. In the years that followed, his successful career grew to include numerous partnerships throughout the US and abroad.
Pat was an avid traveler, and along with family and friends, he regularly took trips around the globe. Ever industrious, even his pastimes involved staying busy, and for years he worked to transform a modest second property on Lake Bruin in Tensas Parish into an idyllic lakeside retreat for his family and friends. He was known for his keen sense of humor, his fondness for pranks and practical jokes, and a passion for holding court with stories to entertain all. And like any true Norman, no jackpot was safe when Pat sat down at a blackjack table. He was exceedingly generous to all those around him, and he was always eager to offer a favor to those in need. Pat worked hard to create wonderful experiences and lasting memories for those he loved, and his smile and his infectious laughter will forever be with us.
Pat is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay Schulz Norman; his daughters, Jill Norman LeBlanc and Beth Norman Hudson; his son, Patrick David Norman; sons-in-law, Jason LeBlanc and Kevin Hudson; sister, Joann Stratton and husband Red; brothers, Richard Norman and wife, Mary Ann, and David Norman and wife, Linda; sisters-in-law, Glynda Norman and Yvonne Norman; brothers-in-law, Oliver Schulz and wife Sylvia, and George Schulz and partner, Keith Phillips; grandchildren, Garrett Hudson and wife, Lindsey, Wilson Hudson, and Lila LeBlanc; great-grandchildren, Honor and Haven Hudson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph T. Norman Sr. and Marie McEnany Norman, brothers, Ralph T. Norman Jr. and John T. Norman Sr., and daughter-in-law, Laura D’Arcangelo Norman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paschal Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Friday, June 23 with Rev. Jerry Daigle, as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Paschal Cemetery in West Monroe, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday June 22, 2023 at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Garrett Hudson, Wilson Hudson, Dr. Butch Stratton, Chip Norman, Richard D. Norman Jr., Slagle McGuffee, Mike Mulhearn, Tom Mulhearn, and Will Mulhearn.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the many healthcare workers, sitters, and caregivers who have assisted with Pat’s care over the last 11 years.
