Patrick Owen Pettit, 78, of Stevens Point, died following complications from heart failure, surrounded by his family at ThedaCare in Waupaca in the early morning hours of March 21.
He was born Dec. 12, 1946, the son of Robert and Eleanor (née Millard). He grew up in an Irish neighborhood in Milwaukee and spent time at the family's cabin on Kusel Lake near Wild Rose, which he helped build.
In July 1975, he married Belinda, after which the couple had three daughters: Brandi, Shari, and Cristi.
Patrick retired from the U.S. Army in 1995 after being honorably discharged.
Patrick was a member of the Bill Cook Chapter of the Izaak Walton League and enjoyed spending time there. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gun and archery shows, watching Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers games, Star Trek, and spending time with his six grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Belinda (née Zettle); daughters Brandi Makuski, Shari Carpenter (Luke), and Cristi Baptiste (Andrew); and grandchildren Bradley, Richard, Luke Jr., Sam, Teagan, and Courtney. He is also survived by many neices, nephews, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Jeannine Boehm; and brother-in-law Gerald Boehm.
The family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the staff at Wisconsin Veterans Home at King and Thedacare Waupaca for their kind, compassionate care.
