Paul Ivan Allen, 79, of Zillah Wa passed away peacefully at home on July 23. Paul was devoted to his family, his church and his community and will be greatly missed.
Paul was born in Wenatchee , Wa on March 29, 1946 to Meryl Ivan and Ruth (Perkins) Allen. He was the 3rd of 5 children. The family moved to a farm in Zillah Washington in 1962 on which he would live the rest of his life. In 1966 Paul married Linda Jo Holder and together they raised two sons, Jeff and Jim.
Paul was a life long member of the Buena First Baptist Church and an active member of his community including coaching his son’s sports when they were younger, playing an active role in the Zillah Booster Club and serving on the Zillah School Board.
Paul loved to be outdoors, whether for work or play. He farmed for many years and then moved on to a job with the WSDA as a fruit inspector from which he retired in 2011. Paul provided a lot of high school kids with their first job, employing his son’s friends and kids from the church in the summer on the farm.
He enjoyed fishing, camping and boating with his family and friends, providing tons of wonderful memories along the way.
Paul is survived by Linda, his wife of 59 years, his sons and their wives, Jeff and Liz and Jim and Cheryl both of Zillah, sisters Joan Eblen of Boise and Mary Evans of Madras and his brother Doug Allen of Sacramento and 5 grandchildren, Sabrina, Sophie, Dylan, Jaime and Brayden. He is preceded in death by his brother Don Allen and his parents, Ivan and Ruth.
Services will be held Monday, July 28. There will be a viewing at 10:00 am at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah and a grave side service at 2:00 pm at the Zillah Cemetery.
