Paul "Bops" Giannetto, 94, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, in Northbrook, Illinois. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, veteran, and pharmacist. Paul lived a life marked by dedication to his family, profession, and faith.
Born on June 29, 1930, in Apollo, Pennsylvania, to Cosmo and Florence (Cicero) Giannetto. Paul graduated from Apollo High School and went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh, earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Paul served honorably in the United States Army, stationed at Walter Reed Medical Center, during the Korean War. His time in the military reflected his lifelong commitment to service and learning. After completing his military service and education, Paul accepted a job offer from Abbott Labs that brought him to the Chicago area. It was there that he met Mary Lou (Bubb) Giannetto, who would become his beloved wife. Together they built a life rooted in love and mutual support until her passing in 2019. Paul's professional journey was distinguished by leadership roles at Walgreens, National T, and Kare Drugs. His proudest achievement was opening his own store, Plum Grove Drugs, in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. As owner and operator for 27 successful years, Paul became a trusted figure in the community-known not only for his pharmaceutical expertise but also for his warm demeanor and genuine care for others.
Paul's legacy lives on through Denisa Incrocci (Brian); Ryan Incrocci, Brandon Incrocci (Lizzie), Alyssa Incrocci and Paula Kolar (Mark); Ashley Thomas, Paul Siebert (Katlyn Saley), Marielle Siebert (Jack Tiahnybik), Allyson Kolar, great-grandson Rowan Saley Siebert and sister Stella Hubbell. Preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou, siblings Charlie, Cosmo, Victor and Naomi Caplin. His family was a constant source of pride and joy throughout his life.
A man of deep Christian faith, Paul found comfort in reading the Bible and reflecting on its teachings. He had an insatiable curiosity-especially about medicine-and never stopped learning. Those who knew him will remember his gift for storytelling and an infectious smile that could light up any room.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home located at 1240 Waukegan Rd., Glenview, IL 60025. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. Burial will follow immediately after the service.
