Paul Lewis Goodwin Jr.

It is with deep sorrow and sadness that we announce the Homegoing of Paul Lewis Goodwin Jr., age 82 of Columbus, Ohio who journeyed peacefully to his Sunset on January 3, 2025 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Paul was born on June 30, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio to Mabel and Paul Goodwin, Sr. who throughout their lives were known for the foundation of family and open arms to the community.

Paul attended East High School prior to joining the United States Army where he proudly served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War before returning home to Columbus, Ohio. Paul was an experienced and avid OTR truck driver owning his own trucks for many years. He loved reading and learning about all things from medicine, sports, cars to astrology. A true family man, Paul enjoyed being around his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his large family at Christmas parties and family reunions.

Preceded in death by his parents Paul and Mabel Goodwin, brother Eric (Linda dec.) Goodwin, Sisters, Betty L. Thomas, Pauline Solomon, Peggy Tshaka Humphries. Great nephews Larry, Marvin, Damien, Bryon, Byron, Shaquille and Jontae. Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Dolores Goodwin, children Andre (Maria) Holt, Charles (Cristal) Hendrix, Jr., grandchildren Ashanti, Alma, Amaya, Alaya, Kahliya Miller, Lazariha Nathan, Jordan Hendrix (Jordan), Dante Hendrix, Korie, Jacob and Bryon Yelton, great grandchildren Aaliyah and Ezekiel Hendrix. Sisters Carol (Roger dec.) Beneker, Patricia L. Moss, Anita L. Goodwin, Brother Patrick (Rosalind) Goodwin and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at the Marvin Gary Funeral Home, 5456 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43232 on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 11:00am for visitation, 12:00 services with a procession to Union Cemetery at 1:00pm.
