Paul Edward Mescall, 20, of Texas City, tragically and unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Mainland Medical Center. Born on April 9, 2005, in Hoboken, New Jersey, Paul lived a life marked by his kind and loving soul, and his vibrant passion for the things that brought him joy. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend.
Paul was an avid gamer, a Nintendo fanboy through and through, and a dedicated fan content creator. He found immense happiness in his creative pursuits, often making art and photographing local wildlife, capturing the beauty he saw around him. A true pet lover, he shared a special bond with his cherished cats, Snowball and Fig, and his dogs, Link and Siro. Paul was also a huge fan of "My Singing Monsters," a testament to his unique and joyful spirit.
He loved being active, frequently going on walks and riding his bicycle. Paul's compassionate heart shone brightly in his volunteer work with Deputy Claus, where his favorite activity was wrapping and sorting gifts for underprivileged children. This dedication to helping others truly exemplified his giving nature.
He is survived by his loving mother, Pamela Jean (Overbeck) Mescall, and his siblings, Maryellen Mescall, Eric Overbeck and wife Carole, Amy Rios and husband Rob, as well as nephews Spencer and Brian Rios. Paul also leaves behind his devoted godparents, Frank and Rosalie Mescall.
He will be deeply missed by his uncles and aunts: David and Patty Overbeck, Brian and Katherine Maxwell, Andrea and Orlando Cortinas, Jennifer Overbeck, Tony Flores, Ellen and Eamon Ryan, Barbara and William Madsen, Kathleen Browne, Peggy Mescall, and Carolee Chirico.
Paul's memory will be cherished by his numerous cousins: Michael and Austin Mattson, Shelby, Quinn, and Nathan Overbeck, Loraine and Megan Maxwell, Noah, Nicholas, and Alexandra Cortinas, John, Jamie, and Stacey Mescall, Patricia Ramos, Kathleen Facchini, Annemarie Ryan, Billy Madsen, Laura Johnson, Christine Madsen, Annie, Andrew, and Francesca Mescall, Amy Kassman, Joe Chirico, Aeden and Noah Ramos, Nick, John, Clare, and Kate Faccini, Liam, Alex, and Brian Mescall, Ben and Rachel Johnson, Madison, Jillian, and Nathan Mescall, and Juliette, Caroline, Genevieve, and Charlie Kassman, as well as numerous members of his large extended family. He also leaves behind a wide circle of friends who will deeply miss his warm presence and infectious passion for life.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Edward Paul Mescall, his grandfathers, Eugene Overbeck, John Mescall, and Larry Hicks, his grandmothers, Rebecca Sue (Mabry) Overbeck and Marguerite Mescall Hicks, his uncles Paul Robert Overbeck and Jack Mescall, aunt Margie Mescall, and his cousin, Major Brian Mescall.
Pallbearers will be Eric Overbeck, Orlando Cortinas, Nicholas Cortinas, Noah Cortinas, Gavin Powell, and Jay Hicks. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Overbeck and Andres Roseroviteri. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1302 Broadway, Galveston, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas, where Paul will be laid to rest beside his grandmother, Rebecca Sue Mabry Overbeck.
Paul's memory will live on through the countless lives he touched, the joy he shared, and the love he so freely gave.
