Paul Lloyd Osmon, a beacon of love, intelligence, and unwavering faith, left this world on March 21, 2025, at the age of 81, in Austin, Texas, due to a heart attack. Born on July 1, 1943, in Bald Knob, Arkansas, to the late John and Ethel Osmon, Paul's journey was marked by an abundance of joy, a commitment to excellence, and an enduring love for his family and friends.
Paul's early life in Arkansas laid a sturdy foundation for a man of remarkable character. His academic pursuits led him to the University of Arkansas, where he secured a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, a testament to his keen intellect and dedication. This degree was not just a piece of paper; it was a passport to a fulfilling professional life that saw Paul make significant contributions to the Louisiana/Arkansas Gas Company and the State of Arkansas.
His career, though illustrious, was but one facet of his rich life. Paul's heart beat in harmony with music, and he found great joy in playing in groups alongside his beloved late wife, Bonnie, and their friend Gary King. His love for music was paralleled only by his passion for the great outdoors. Paul was an avid hunter and a devoted fan of Razorback sports, often attending games with his friend Mike Stiles. The tranquility of nature was his sanctuary, and fishing with Bonnie was among his most cherished activities.
Paul's legacy is also etched in the stories he shared, a tapestry of experiences from his years in the gas and oil business. He was a consummate storyteller, captivating his listeners with narratives that were as educational as they were entertaining. His tales were not mere anecdotes; they were lessons in life, imbued with the wisdom and wit that only Paul could impart.
He was a man of deep spiritual conviction, which guided him in all his endeavors. Paul's faith was not a quiet, private affair but a living, breathing aspect of his being that inspired him to give generously to many faith-based charitable organizations. His commitment to his faith was as unwavering as his commitment to his family.
Paul's family was the cornerstone of his existence. Though he is now reunited with his late wife, Bonnie, his parents, John and Ethel, and siblings Mabel Morris and Donald Osmon, he leaves behind a legacy of love with his sister Mary Fox, his children Sandra Kay Osmon and John Robert Osmon, granddaughters Jonny and Josie Osmon, and his wife Peggy Cuevas Osmon, sister in law and brother in law Kay Cole Jameson and Gary Jameson. Each family member was a thread in the rich tapestry of his life, a tapestry that will continue to provide warmth and comfort for generations to come.
In Paul Osmon, we witnessed the epitome of a life well-lived. His story is not one of an end but a continuing narrative of love, intelligence, and faith that will resonate through the lives he touched. Paul's journey reminds us that our days are not just to be lived but to be filled with purpose, passion, and a profound love for those around us.
Let us honor Paul's memory by embracing the qualities he exemplified: the grace to cherish every moment, and the generosity to share our blessings with others.
