Paula Jean Shircliff (Kinser) passed peacefully early morning on February 4, 2024 at Norton Women's & Children's Hospital.
She was born in Louisville on June 4, 1950 to Jolly B and Pauline Kinser. Growing up in the South End of Louisville as the youngest of five sisters Paula knew how to leave her mark. She attended Western High School and almost gave her daddy a heart attack when she got caught drag racing his baby blue chevelle down Greenbelt. She was a blonde hair, blue eyed daredevil in her younger days.
A few years after, she started a family with her former husband Jim Shircliff. Mother and homemaker, her and Jim also owned Paula's Top 40 bar on Dixie Hwy in the 1980s. All the while, she battled years with rheumatoid arthritis but never let it stop her.
She loved Derby time, wearing the brightest styles anytime, dressing up for Halloween, decorating for the holidays, dancing and socializing. Paula enjoyed many nights out over the years with her sister Suzanne and friends at Flaherty's, Jim Porter's or Captain's Quarters. Just to name a few.
Once grandchildren came into the picture she switched gears and became the most involved, giving and loving Nana to her six grandchildren throughout the years.
Her grandchildren say Nana made growing up fun. From card games and building Lincoln Log houses to baking sweet treats and decorating to going on the coolest adventures. She turned everyday moments into awesome memories. She was thoughtful even with little things. For every trinket she gave, her love and support shined through.
She was one of the most loving and selfless people ever.
Most everything that she did was doing for other people, especially her grandchildren. Nana was always thinking about the well-being of others over herself.
She is survived by her daughter Karla Prinz (husband Jamie), her six grandchildren Courtnee Hall, Liv Hall, Jackson Hall, Alexander Kincaid Shircliff (mother-Deidre), Carma Shircliff and Charisma Shircliff (mother-Savannah), sister Linda Rixman (Mike), her niece who was more like a sister, Kim Farris (Wayne) and many more nieces, nephews and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her son, Jayme Leo Shircliff. A devastating loss that she heavily mourned since his passing.
Their souls are now reunited.
Her memorial and celebration of life will be at Fern Creek Funeral Home on Saturday February 17 from 11-12 for family, then 12p-4p for everyone. Wear your brightest. She would have wanted it that way.
