Pauline Vera (Blanc) Caley, age 97 of Canton passed away on September 14, 2024. Polly was born March 22, 1927, to the late Emmett G. Blanc and Doris A. Cassler. She attended North Industry and Perry Christian Church.
Polly graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945, She received her bachelor’s degree in 1981 from Malone University, Polly was a Cadet Nurse (she was a member of the very last class to be trained through the Cadet Nursing Program) she was then a staff nurse at Aultman Hospital until 1969, she enjoyed working as a school nurse in the Canton Local School System until her retirement in 1987.
Polly was active in many organizations such as, The Harvard Nurses Study, A Charter member of the Ohio Association of School Nurses, Aultman Hospital Alumni Association and The American Red Cross Instructor of Home Nursing. Her hobbies included an active lifestyle with traveling, sailing and bicycling being among many of her favorite activities.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Nelson M. Caley whom she married in 1948, a sister; Marjorie Miller, brother; Todd Blanc and son in law; Randall S. Matney.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Laura Matney of Johnson City TN; Sue (Bob) Martindale of Havensville, KS; Dean Caley (Nancy Morrison) of Shaker Heights, Ohio; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held September 21, 2024, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Bob Martindale officiating. After the service, internment will take place in Melscheimer Cemetery.
