Pauline was born to Lawrence "Jack" and Cordelia (Price) Patterson on October 11, 1929 in rural Prairie City, Iowa. She was born in the midst of the Stock Market crash of September to November of 1929 and thus grew up in the Great Depression. She attended country school and graduated from Prairie City High School on the morning of May 14, 1948 and married George Pinkerton that afternoon. To their union five children were born, Linda, Clarence, Rick, David and Tim. They eventually made their home in Taintor where Pauline ran the last Taintor grocery & café out of her home. They later bought a farm south of Barnes City. In addition to working on the farm, she worked at Sig's Manufacturing. They later moved to New Sharon and she was employed by Attorney, Bruce Palmer, Pella Products Clothing, and the New Sharon Care Center.
Pauline enjoyed gardening (did her lasting canning at age 89), helping her family with 4-H projects, fishing and camping. She especially enjoyed the camp out with family and friends at Tim and Theresa's farm. She loved attending sports events of all of her family members. She liked Hawkeye sports and Cubs baseball. She absolutely loved attending stock car races-especially when her grandson, Brad, was driving the 17P car. Her church family at the Harvest Community Fellowship was also a tremendous blessing in her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Chedester of Parker, South Dakota; her sons, Rick (Kerry) Pinkerton of Taintor, David (Jan) Pinkerton of Salisbury, North Carolina and Tim (Theresa) Pinkerton of Pleasantville; two sisters, Thelma Carter of Newton and Martha Patterson of Prairie City; 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Pinkerton; one son, Clarence Pinkerton; one granddaughter, Tricia Chedester; her son-in-law, Lee Chedester and her brother, Melvin Patterson.
