A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 908 Industrial Ave, Copperas Cove, Texas 76522.
Pearlie Mae Johnson was born on December 5, 1925, in Phenix City, Alabama to Jessie Johnson Sr. and Annie Mae Johnson. She attended school in Phenix City at St. Paul CME Church School during her early childhood. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Bill and Pearlie Walker. Pearlie did a variety of jobs including cleaning and working on a farm.
She married at an early age to Jackson Parrish who was in the military. After Jackson's retirement from the military in Texas, Jackson and Pearlie Mae decided to make Copperas Cove their home.
While living in Copperas Cove, Pearlie Mae loved working with flowers, helping people, and her God, Jehovah. She never met a stranger but used every possible opportunity to share a scriptural thought about her God. She was a Bible Whiz and could quote and find a scripture within seconds. Pearl became a regular pioneer in the 60s and remained one until her death.
She was a very skilled teacher of Bible Truths and had the delightful joy of helping many people to learn the truth. Pearlie would often use the words "sugar" and "honey" when referring to her Bible students. She set an excellent example of a devoted servant to Jehovah and always put God's Will first in her life.
Pearlie was a compassionate, generous, and loving person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Pearlie was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Parrish; brothers, Hudson Johnson, Jessie Johnson Jr, Archie Johnson, Hayard Johnson, and Levie Johnson; sisters, Carrie Abrams and Bessie Johnson; her parents, Jessie and Annie Mae Johnson; and half-brother, John Lee Johnson.
She leaves behind a brother, John T. Johnson Sr.; a half-sister, Betty Jean Nuns; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family appreciates all of the love and support shown to Pearlie Mae.
