Peggy Harris, 87, of Amarillo, TX died Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Peggy was born October 23, 1936, in Hollis, OK to Clifford and Lenox Kellison. She married Duane Harris in November 1952, in Wellington, TX. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her son, Mickey Harris.

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Lewis and Jake Pichnarcik, of Winnsboro, TX; son, Mark Harris and Yanis Perez, of Amarillo, TX; four grandchildren, Matthew Lewis and Savannah Powell, of Longview, TX, Paul Lewis and Jade, of Gilmer, TX, Heather Hudgeons and Greg Ford, of Lewisville, TX, and Mysti Truitt and Robert, of Dumas, TX; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Peggy had a lifelong passion for crafting, which began with embroidery at a young age. This early interest blossomed into a love for making clothes, quilting, and even designing Barbie outfits. One of her most cherished accomplishments was sewing her daughter’s wedding dress, showcasing her remarkable skill and creativity.

Peggy was also a hard worker who never shied away from a challenge. She took accounting classes at West Texas State University to enhance her skills and became a dedicated bookkeeper at Dumas Butane. She later served as an office manager for Mickey Ford and Swift, always bringing her tenacity and strong work ethic to every role. A long-term member of the Dumas First Street Church of Christ, Peggy was deeply committed to her faith community, remaining active until her move to Amarillo.

Outside of work, Peggy had a green thumb and took great pride in her garden, especially her phenomenal rose bushes. She was always ready for a new adventure and loved to travel, never missing an opportunity to explore the world. An avid reader, Peggy could often be found with a book in hand, absorbing knowledge and stories.

Above all, she treasured the time spent with her grandchildren, watching them grow and sharing in their lives. Peggy was a woman ahead of her time, unafraid of hard work, and always willing to do whatever it took to get the job done.
