Peggy Ellis Morton passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in the Phillips & Luckey Chapel, Rockdale TX. Burial will follow at the Forest Grove Cemetery in the Forest Grove Community. Pastor Ellis McKenzie will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 7 PM Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at the funeral home.
Peggy was born on December 29, 1962 to Ike Scarborough and Zelma Elizabeth (Holliman) Ellis in Rockdale at Richards Memorial Hospital. She was raised in the Rockdale/Forest Grove area and was a Rockdale High School graduate. She was in banking her entire career in Rockdale, TX. She is survived by her husband Johnny Morton of Blackjack, her son Brandon Bell of Forrest Grove, his wife Jordan & grandchildren Cooper & Brooke Bell, a sister Linda Ellis Walker and her husband Stephen Walker of Milano, Doug and wife Sherry Ellis of Minerva. And many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, & great-nephews.
Peggy's greatest joy in life was her family, many friends, & her fur babies Louie and Daisy. She was extremely proud and passionate about anything Cooper & Brooke were involved in.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ike Scarborough and Zelma Elizabeth Holliman Ellis; her 3 brothers, David Ike, Jim Sam, John Robert Ellis; and sister Barbara Ellis Zawadzke.
Pallbearers: Zachary Zawadzke, Lucas Hairston, Sam Walker, JR Harris, John Thomas Zawadzke, and Chase Nadeau.
Honorary Pallbearers: Tiny Dean & Gary Darby.
