Pete Hardin

Pete Hardin, 61, of Fleming Island, passed away on August 6, 2025.

He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and came from a very large, close-knit family. He was the tenth of twelve children-a spot in the lineup that gifted him a lifetime of stories, laughter, and strong family ties.

Pete spent 30 years in banking-through First Union, Wachovia, and ultimately Wells Fargo-serving in many roles, with his last position being Vice President of Treasury Services. He was highly respected at Wells Fargo, known for being full of knowledge and for his willingness to share it. He was also an entrepreneur, and he used that same knowledge to help form Woof Gang Bakery Fleming Island with his wife Mary, he took great pride in the company they built together.

Pete was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at St. Luke's Catholic Church, where he served as an OCIA sponsor, volunteer, and usher. His faith was a guiding force in his life, and he had a strong desire to serve others-whether it was helping someone in need or offering advice or kind words.

Pete's happiest moments were spent with the people he loved-cheering on the Florida Gators, sharing meals around the table, or hosting his famous Sunday breakfast for the extended family. He poured his heart into being a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, mentor, and brother. He was a devoted husband to Mary, always encouraging and standing behind her dreams. Whatever the role, he gave it his all.

Pete is survived by the love of his life, Mary Hardin; his children, Haley (fiancé Micaela), Hunter, Alex, and Brittany (Justin); and his cherished grandchildren, Jimmy and Joey. He is also survived by his siblings: Cathi, Chris (Tim), Tommy (Nancy), Dennis, Pat (Joy), Boo (Carl), Michael (Tracy), Paul, and Christopher (Roxie) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Sarah and his sisters, Candy and Patricia.

To honor Pete, a memorial mass will be held at a later date at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Middleburg, FL.
