Peter D. Archey, of Charlottesville, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Raised in Reading, PA, Peter was the eldest son of Peter (d. 2008) and Connie Archey. He is survived by his mother, three younger brothers: Mike Archey (FL), Tom Archey and his wife Mary (PA), and Jack Archey (CA), five nieces and nephews Jake, Michael, Emily, Matt and Kelly and Mary Athridge and David Jackson, his close friends and caregivers during his cancer battle.
A proud graduate of the University of Virginia, Peter spent much of his professional life in New York City, where he became known as a thoughtful and strategic communicator in the financial and legal sectors. Over the course of his career, he led business development initiatives at global institutions. Most recently, he was a writer and consultant, ghost writing Op Eds and other articles for national and financial publications as he worked on other projects. In every role, he brought a keen editorial mind, a mentor's spirit, and an unwavering belief that good work speaks for itself.
Peter was a gifted writer beyond business. He penned one and a half novels, with baseball-a lifelong love-at their heart. A die-hard Boston Red Sox fan and a two-time New York City Marathon finisher, Peter cherished his morning walks to work through Central Park, where many of his best ideas took shape.
He found joy in cooking, UVA sports and tailgates, and traveling, particularly an annual trip to Martha's Vineyard. A history buff and voracious reader, Peter grew increasingly reflective in recent years, drawing comfort and strength from faith, scripture, and his conversations with UVA Chaplain Ann Marie Smith.
He approached life with confidence, tradition, and persevering determination. Though he had many plans left to live-road trips, seaside escapes, and stories to finish-he now rests peacefully, reunited with his father. For the first time since 2008, Peter spent Father's Day by his dad's side in heaven.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611, with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Peter's family encourages casual dress, or, following Peter's example, your favorite baseball jersey.
