Our beloved Phil was born in Rice Lake, WI, to Eleanor (nee) Overby and Frederick Segerstrom, and was predeceased by his siter, Juliana Jane. He attended junior high school in Hollywood, CA, and high school in Perrysburg, Oh. He graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering and received his pilot's license. He then enlisted in the US Army, Special Forces Group Airborne, making him one of the first Green Berets. He later moved to Brussels, Belgium, where he represented two American machinery companies and competed on the Belgium national parachute team. Because of Phil's love for skiing, he moved to Switzerland and bought a house in Geneva, where he was married briefly to a Russian model. He returned to the US and continued his machine business for the next several decades, from India to Latin America. He retired to Venice with his dear wife Roberta and built a home on the Myakka River. After her passing, he moved to the Oaks and later to Golden Gate Sarasota Bay with dear friend Beverly Albertson. And finally, back to Venice to live on a farm, leaving behind a horse, Cindy Lou; three dogs; five cats; two sheep and a dozen chickens; as well as lots of good human friends. Donations in Phil's memory may be made to Venice Wildlife Rescue Center, 925 N. Jackson Rd., Venice, Fl 34292.
