Phillip Christian Steinhofer, 59 years old, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022 at his residence in Richardson, TX. Phillip was born October 16, 1962 in South Bend to Martin and Henrietta (Staszewski) Steinhofer. Phillip is survived by his wife, Lydia, his mother, Henrietta Steinhofer; sister, Linda (Dan) Lawecki; brothers, Martin K. (Clodine) Steinhofer, Patrick (Susan) Steinhofer – who is histwin; nephews, Kyle (Denise) Jakubowicz, Matthew (Melissa) Jakubowicz, Taylor (Muffi) Steinhofer; niece, Ashley Steinhofer; great-nephews, Connor & Mason Jakubowicz; and his Special Aunt, Geri Rothballer. Phillip is preceded in death by his father, Martin.
Phillip graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and worked as an embedded engineer in the defense industry sector. He worked most of his life working and helping to defend this nation. Phillip helped with the firmware for the land base portion of communications through satellites. He was a part of the IEEE - Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, as well as many trade groups for his profession.
Phillip was a peaceful and compassionate man who focused on others. He supported animal rescue groups – constantly taking care of and feeding stray or abandoned animals. He planted food in his garden for animals in the area. Both he and Lydia loved their animals dearly – Dagen and Emma Claire, their dogs, Ousmaine, their Siamese cat, and Elliott, their blind rabbit. Phillip loved to cook. In time, Phillip achieved perfecting his mothers' recipes. Phillip also loved going to breakfast every morning with his "breakfast club". Phillip loved his father and adored his mother.
Friends may visit with the family from 3:00pm-6:00pm on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S Mayflower Rd, South Bend. A Rosary will be prayed at 3:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, April 4, 2022 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend, IN 46614. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Phillip Christian Steinhofer to Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnett Dr., South Bend, IN 46614.
