Phoebe Macaulay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home on Sep. 21, 2024.
Phoebe Ruth Macaulay, age 26, went to be with her Lord Jesus on September 18, 2024, after a courageous 26-month battle with brain cancer. She faced her illness with remarkable strength and grace, embodying the same passion for faith, healthcare, and education that defined her life. Phoebe was the beloved daughter of Robert and Gail and cherished sister to Luke (Kate) and Lydia (Ian). She was an adoring aunt to her nephews Braeden, Ian, and Donovan-who were a constant source of happiness for her. Phoebe dearly loved her fiancé Ugwuogo, whom she affectionately called "my man," and to the end they were united in love and in faith. Phoebe's commitment to her Lord was displayed as an active member of Grace Baptist Church where she devoted herself to the outreach ministries and worship team, inspiring many with her dedication and kindness. Her life verse was Psalm 118:17, " I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD." Phoebe lived out this verse through her work at UHS Wilson Hospital Laboratory, where she made a significant impact in the lives of her co-workers. She seized every opportunity to share her faith with anyone who would listen. She was passionate about the lab and wanted to prepare the next generation to work there. She was a proud alumna of Central Baptist Christian Academy, SUNY Broome and SUNY Upstate Medical University, and she found joy in playing both the violin and piano. Phoebe's love for music and her unwavering faith were integral parts of her life, enriching all who had the privilege to know her. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed many different crafts.Phoebe leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and love that will be remembered and missed by all who were touched by her life.
A service to honor Phoebe's life and legacy will be held at West Windsor Baptist Church, 166 North Rd. Windsor, NY 13865 on October 12th with calling hours from 10am to noon and a service to follow. Friends are welcome to send fond memories of the impact that Phoebe had on their lives to [email protected].

Phoebe was truly a beautiful soul. I noticed last time I saw her with her Mom she had taken a turn for the worst, but she still smiled and never complained. It was such pleasure speaking with her and I'm so sorry she was taken too young. Love to the family.

I met Phoebe when I was at SUNY Broome. She was in most of my classes. I always thought she was so kind and very mature for her age. We graduated and I was moving to Syracuse to start a new job and she was moving to Syracuse to continue her education. Time sure does fly by.

To the parents, family and friends of Phoebe: I´m truly sorry for your loss.

We were not very close, just chatted here and there. There was just one moment before I left the hospital and moved that I will always remember. I spoke to Phoebe and Erin in the breakroom. She saw me crying and said, "It must be very scary, having to move and start a new job." She was one of the few people who really saw me and didn't get uncomfortable and try to brush over my feelings. I appreciated it so much at the time. She was such a kind and empathetic person. Thank you for that, sending my love out to you.
