Preston Earl Bradham, Jr., 80, of Mauldin, SC passed away on January 12, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Janet Englisbe Bradham. Born in Florence, SC, he was the only child of the late Preston Earle Bradham, Sr. and Sallye Sturgeon Bradham.
Earl graduated from Spartanburg High School before attending Clemson University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine in 1966. Earl proudly served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army with Army Medical Services in Vietnam. There he served with the HHT-2 First Calvary and Company C, 4th Medical Brigade. He received the Combat Medical Badge. Returning home to South Carolina, Earl worked as an engineer with the SC Department of Highways until his retirement in 1997.
Not being one to sit around, Earl continued his love of history and trains as an avid model railroader. He loved to travel the Southeast to model train shows. He worked hours each day on his trains and layout, which were never quite finished!
Each fall since retirement, Janet and Earl traveled to Surfside Beach to spend time with their many friends. For 25 years the group lovingly called themselves "The Beach Bums."
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet who was the love of his life and best friend; his daughter and pride and joy, Jennifer and her husband, Ryan, the son he never had; two wonderful grandsons, Brady and Noah Pinkerman, whom he loved dearly and was extremely proud of; his sister-in-law, Nancy Englisbe of Simpsonville and nephew, Jason Englisbe of Mauldin; brother-in-law, Wynn Englisbe of Callawassie Island, SC and nephew, Ross Englisbe of Portugal and niece, Lauren Englisbe of Atlanta; and nephews, John and Todd Englisbe of Taylors.
He was predeceased by his parents; both father and mother-in law, Melvin and Carol Englisbe; and brothers-in law, William (Bill) Englisbe and Melvin (MJ) Englisbe, Jr.
The family would like to thank Janet and Earl's dear friends and many neighbors for providing encouragement, support, and loving assistance to Earl.
Janet and Jennifer would especially like to thank Earl's caregiver and angel, Ashley Bennett, who provided nurturing care and support to Earl
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. with military honors. A family burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 739 N. Main St, Mauldin SC, 29662, or Meals on Wheels of Greenville, 15 Oregon St, Greenville SC, 29605.
