My first memory of Dr. Jacqmain is in 1965. I was pregnant with my first child but didn't have a Doctor. Someone recommended Dr. Jacqmain. When I met Dr. Jacqmain, he told me I was his first OB patient. He was an outstanding young physician for a young girl who didn't know the first thing about pregnancy, babies, or caring for them. He told me "You and I will work together during this pregnancy - your first baby and my first OB patient."
He meticulously taught me how important the expectant Mother's nutrition was. He told me "What you eat from now until delivery will be the same food your baby eats." He even told me to eat liver once a week, which I reluctantly did.
My pregnancy went well and on May 3, 1966 a beautiful healthy son was born to me and my young husband. Dr. Jacqmain's hands were the first to touch and hold my baby.
I have never forgotten, nor will I ever forget, the most outstanding, wonderful Doctor I have ever known in my 77 years. He even had to tell this new young mother that the "funny sounds" her baby was making were burps. He was always ready to answer my questions, with humor and patience.
Rest in peace, Dr. Jacqmain. There is a special place in Heaven reserved for precious souls like yours. My heartfelt condolences to your family, with whom you will be reunited one day.
