Randall Walter Haack was born April 19, 1951 of parents Walter Raymond Haack and Elnora (Metscher) Haack of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Randall was baptized that same year at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School grades 1-8 and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 11, 1965. Randall attended Farnsworth Junior High in the 9th grade and graduated from Sheboygan South High School in June 1969 after grades 10-12.
Mr. Haack attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall of 1969, majoring in Electrical Engineering. His Engineering major was in Power Systems and Electric Motors, and upon receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in May of 1973 he had the opportunity to pursue a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering as a Research Assistant. Randall's Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering was awarded in December 1974, but he started working for Westinghouse in September 1974.
After attending Westinghouse orientation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Randy spent a month at the Large Rotating Apparatus plant in East Pittsburgh on the Education Center program. Then, in October of that same year, he worked at the Large Power Transformer Division in Muncie, Indiana. He liked the work so much that he decided to go permanent in Muncie and spent the next 7.5 years there
In August of 1982 Mr. Haack transferred to the Westinghouse Defense and Electronics Center in Friendship, Maryland. He worked there until September of 1985, at which time he went back to school and attended the University of Baltimore, receiving a Master of Science in Business in May of 1990. He started working for the State of Maryland Department of the Environment in November of 1991.
Randall worked as a Health Physicist for the Maryland Department of the Environment from November of 1991 and retiring as of December 1, 2020. On September 4, 2009 Randall and Kathy Ruth (Einsel) Hall of Jarrettsville. Maryland were united in holy matrimony at Saint Johns Lutheran Church of Sweet Air. Randall and Kathy sang in church choirs most of their adult lives, so naturally they made beautiful music together. Randy became the step-father of Tracy Leigh Hall and J. Brian Hall.
In November of 2019 Kathy and Randy committed themselves to membership in the Forest Hill Presbyterian Church in America. Randy always said if he wasn't a Lutheran he would be a Presbyterian, so they took the plunge.
In retirement, Randy spent his time keeping up their home, watching the news, printing out some of their trip pictures, listening and recording music from :LP's and CD's. some travel, volunteering, and exercising.
Randy was preceded in death by both sets of parents, step-daughter Tracy Hall of Jarrettsville, all of his aunts and uncles, and nephew Curtis Brown of Milwaukee. He was survived by wife Kathy, sisters Ruth (Haack) Williams of Milwaukee, Mary (Haack) Zawatzke of Sheboygan, nieces Kelly Jacobson, Leslie Angove and Sara Williams of Milwaukee as well as grand-nieces Andrea Rawson, Amerin (Idell) Jones and Makayla Davis, the latter two of Milwaukee. Mr. Haack is further survived by son-in-law J. Brian Hall and daughter-in-law Alyson (Moore) Hall and their three children James Duncan McGregor Jacob Brody, and Brinley Piper (Hall), brother-in-law William Einsel and sister-in-law Mary (Dvorak) Einsel, niece Amanda Einsel and nephew Tommy Einsel plus grand-nephew Colter Einsel, all of Baltimore.
Visitation will be at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home. 4143 Dale Boulevard, Woodbridge, VA 22193 with interment at Saint James Episcopal Church cemetery in Monkton, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, MT 59004 in honor of Randall W. Haack.
