Raymond Michael Bisson, known affectionately as Ray and/or Mickey to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, at the age of 77. Ray's life was a vibrant celebration of service, family, and joy, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and love.
Ray was a proud veteran, having served his country with honor and courage as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, followed by honor duty at the U.S. Embassy in Morocco. His sense of duty and commitment to excellence carried over into his civilian life as well.
At home, Ray was the beloved husband of Janice and the cherished father of two sons, Greg and his wife Beth of Clinton Twp., and Lance and his wife Nicole of Chesterfield. He was the doting grandfather to four grandchildren, Kamryn, Linsey, Landon, and Lucas who will miss his funny stories and warm hugs. Ray's family extended to his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Beth Bisson of Sterling Heights; his sisters, Marilyn Bless of Chesterfield, and Cindy and brother-in-law Richard Rempel of Clinton Twp.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren and friends who all held a special place in his heart.
Ray's interests were as diverse as they were engaging. He was an avid outdoorsman who relished camping and hunting with his friends and family in the serene landscapes up north. His love for card games was well-known, and his poker face was as legendary as his sense of humor. Above all, Ray loved his family deeply. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was a grandchild's activities or a simple Sunday dinner.
Those who knew Ray would describe him as funny and loving-a man who could effortlessly bring a smile to anyone's face. He had an infectious laugh that could light up a room and a gentle spirit that made everyone feel at home. Ray's ability to find joy in the small things, to turn the mundane into the extraordinary, was one of his most admirable traits.
A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church Fraser with military honors. Memorial contributions in his honor can be made to Vietnam Veterans of America-Chapter 154 in Clinton Township, MI and Christ Church Fraser - Upward Sports Program.
