Raymond passed away from a drowning accident while on his boat at Grapevine Lake in Grapevine, Texas on April 10, 2025.
Raymond was born to Willard Sheperd and Mary Joe (McClanahan) Ellis on December 27, 1948, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
Raymond took pride in being a Texas.
He is survived by his loving son, Sterling Daniel Ellis; longtime girlfriend, Donna Fry; brother Randy and his wife Dana Ellis; along with many cousins and family friends.
From the age of 12 when his family moved to the Keller, Texas area, Raymond enjoyed riding his horses, fishing, hunting, and sports. He loved to cook, grill, and he collected many cook books.
Raymond graduated from Keller High School, and served 2 years in the Army. After his discharge, Raymond followed in his father’s footsteps and became a sheet metal worker. He retired after 30 years from Spiral Pipe of Texas.
Raymond survived a long and painful fight with throat cancer which cost him the use of his voice resulting in gaining a stoma.
Raymond will be missed by all, but now he is with his mom, dad, and other family who have preceded him in death.
