SOUTH ATTLEBORO – Raymond C. Farrell, 81, of South Attleboro, formerly of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI. He was the beloved husband of Janice A. (Frigon) Farrell, with whom he shared sixty years of marriage since their wedding on September 5, 1964.
Born in North Attleboro, MA, on September 25, 1943, he was a devoted son of the late Clifford and Helena I. (Plante) Farrell. Ray grew up in North Attleboro and was a 1961 graduate of North Attleboro High School. Following graduation, he began his career as head teller at Manufacturer's National Bank, later working for Owens Corning in Albion, RI, and Checon in Attleboro.
A man of deep Catholic faith, Ray was a longtime communicant of Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in South Attleboro. Together with Janice, he enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States, visiting most of the continental states. Ray also had a love for horse and dog racing, attending races with his sons and watching events on television. He enjoyed casino visits, especially to Plainridge Casino in Plainville, where he liked to try his luck at the slot machines.
Above all, Ray was a family man who cherished the time spent with his loved ones. In addition to his wife, Janice, he is survived by his devoted sons, Richard "Rick" Farrell and his wife Trina of Manchester, NH, and Gregory Farrell and his wife Kathryn of South Attleboro. Ray was the proud grandfather of Andrew, Delaney, Corey, Mackenzy, Cameron, and Kevin, as well as a great-grandfather to Lucas, Ethan, and Karley. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Tracey Scott and her fiancé Gary Ferrera, and Ellen Johnson, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Ray was the brother of the late Elaine Chase and brother-in-law of the late Gary Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Ray's honor by Reverend Gregory Quenneville on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, 18 Baltic Street, South Attleboro. Interment will follow at Saint John's Cemetery, 165 West Street, Attleboro. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. At Ray's request, visitation has been omitted.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, North Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Ray's name may be made to HopeHealth Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904, or online at www.hopehealthco.org
