Raymond Edward Gagnon, age 66 of Murrells Inlet, SC Passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2025, at his home, while surrounded by his family.
Born on December 14, 1958 in Rochester, NY, Ray was the son of the late Fremont and Joan Werner Gagnon. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Cathy Gagnon; their daughter, Jessica Joniec and her husband, Jim, and their daughter, Nicole Gagnon. He is also survived by his brother, Tom Gagnon (Marlene Walker) and his sisters, Dianne Kleckner and Barbara Gagnon along with many nieces and nephews.
Ray was predeceased by his sister, Marlene Gagnon.
Ray's passion for engineering began while he was working the Steel Mills in Pennsylvania. He went on to get his degree from Penn State University, and later achieved his PE in civil engineering. In 1983, Ray started his long and fulfilling career in Water Management. He worked in Water Management facilities in New Smyrna Beach, FL Boca Raton, FL, Tamarac, FL, and Georgetown County, SC. He was particularly proud of Georgetown County "Best Tasting Water in SC" Awards.
Outside of his professional career, Ray enjoyed many activities. He was an avid outdoors enthusiast, even becoming captain of the outdoors club in college. He loved spending time with his family skiing in Sun Valley, Idaho, boating and fishing on the Waccamaw River or going to play golf with his buddies on Saturday morning.
Ray would visit his daughters regularly to help with home improvement activities, teaching them valuable life skills and making sure they understood they could achieve anything.
Ray also spent his time volunteering and making the world a better place, He was humbled to receive the Rotarian of the year award in 2018 from his local chapter.
The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.

Ray was such a great guy. I played in the same Saturday golf group with him for many years! One thing I will always remember about Ray is that he always had fun playing golf no matter if he was playing well or not. He will be missed! Sincerely, Chris M
