Rebecca Joy Rolley DeWald, 60, passed on to a new adventure in the afterlife while surrounded by family on 8/15/25. Becky was born to Darlene and Bob Rolley in Boise, Idaho on June 14th, 1965. During her childhood, she lived in Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and Wyoming. Becky met Daryll DeWald in Laramie, Wyoming in 1980 and they were married in 1984, celebrating 41 years of marriage this June. Following 4 years in Michigan, Becky and Daryll moved to Texas, and then on to California following Daryll's career path. During this time, she gave birth to three children. Becky lived with her family in Logan, Utah from 1995-2010 before settling in Eastern Washington for the past 15 years, first in Palouse, and then Spokane.

Becky's career as a nurse began at The Bronson Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1988. She later completed her BSN from Washington State University. In her 35-year career as a nurse, she had a passion for cardiology and particularly for patients treated with heart rhythm devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators. She worked at Spokane Cardiology in this role for the last 14 years.

Parenting brought a whole new joy to Becky's life. From the birth of her first child in 1990 to empty nesting and beyond, the challenges and rewards of parenting Derek, Laura and Diana became foremost in her life. School activities, children's church, sports, music, camping, backpacking and outdoor activities created cherished memories. In more recent years, the addition of several treasured grandchildren since her cancer diagnosis was a great blessing.

Becky was a compassionate and thoughtful person who loved gardening, reading broadly, all things outdoors, and the night sky, particularly "Monet clouds". She displayed great mental and physical strength during her 3.5 years of gallbladder cancer treatments. Becky not only served in the medical community in Spokane (alongside husband Daryll and daughter Laura) but was also grateful for the excellent care of many local providers during her cancer journey. Becky is survived by her irreplaceable husband Daryll; father, Robert Rolley; mother, Darlene Marmie; brother, Robert Rolley; children: Derek DeWald (Jenna), Laura DeWald Tangvald (Thor), and Diana DeWald Daschel (James); as well as 5 grandchildren (plus one on the way): Bridget, Avery, Hailey, Owen, and Brock.

A Celebration of Life will take place on September 6th, 2025, 10AM at Hennessey Funeral Home 2203 North Division Street Spokane, WA 99207. Becky requested that in lieu of black, you wear the colors of your favorite flowers to the service.

"The kiss of the sun for pardon, the song of the birds for mirth, One is nearer God's heart in a garden, than anywhere else on Earth" -Dorothy Frances Gurney
