Rebecca Lynn "Becka Scott" (nee Downen)
November 8, 1981 - April 14, 2024
On a warm Sunday afternoon in April, 2024 the world lost a beautiful soul who always tried to fight through the struggles and pain in her life. She tried to shine a light of positivity and passion out into the world to give it a little more warmth and comfort.Rebecca "Becka" Lynn Scott, 42, of
Troy, MO, passed away on April 14, 2024 at Mercy Hospital- St. Louis, MO following a battle with kidney disease. She was born on November 8, 1981 in
St. Charles, Missouri to Ronald and Diane. She began as a shy and sometimes scared little girl in her early days, but she fought through much pain and struggle in her life to become a strong determined woman with great purpose in her life. She was always a fighter who was tougher than life. It would try and try to knock her down but she would always rise up like a great phoenix and overcome. She was a champion to herself, her family, her friends, and all others that will be touched by her legacy. Becka was an independent, hard working, single parent who worked a proud career at the General Motors Corporation. She was protective and nurturing to her children. She was a caring and supportive mother. That same love and generosity reached past her children to her family as they needed her at times within their own lives. She also loved and cherished the friendships that she gathered throughout her life. She cared greatly about each and every person. Becka had a spiritual connection with God and put that energy out into the world. Her positive spirit and unwavering kindness touched everyone who knew her. She was always the first person to offer help and she always lit up the room with her smile. Her commitment to giving extended even after her passing, as she chose to be an organ donor, a selfless act that will continue to bless others. The phoenix will continue on in their lives. The fire within her was sparked at an early age. She was filled with creativity and passion. From her early days she held a beautiful, angelic, and passionate voice that she was sometimes afraid to let sing. Yet, when that sweet and powerful voice sounded out all heads would turn to hear her and smile. She wrote beautiful heartfelt lyrics and poetry for her voice to have a message. She not only had a love of music but of art as well. She used her skills to create beautiful paintings where she displayed her innermost emotions upon the canvas in front of her. Then she shared that art with the world when she started The Phoenix Art Foundation to assist others in need through her artistry. The fire within her was sparked at an early age. But among all things that will be missed as we lose this wonderful girl is her positivity. Even in the darkest of days she still had embers in her core that were fighting to erupt once more. We will miss her big, boisterous, and feisty personality that was filled with a roaring laughter. Becka was such a captivating presence that was always open and interested in new ideas and new experiences. Her phoenix will rise again for a new adventure as she passes from this life to the next and we will all be better people in the world for having been next to her warmth. We will miss you girl, and the fire within you that burned so true and bright.
