Rene Hernandez Obituary
Rene H. Hernandez of Lubbock, TX passed away peacefully in his home on June 19, 2025. He was born on November 2, 1964 in Gary, Indiana to parents Ben and Frances Hernandez who preceded him in death.
Rene was a loving father to his only daughter Elena Hernandez and grandfather “Olo” to Henry Jackson. Anyone who knew Rene will always remember him by his love of guitars, music, his red 1957 Chevy and his incredible artwork, that also inspired his daughter to become an amazing artist.
Rene earned his Bachelors of Social Work at Texas Tech University and his Masters of Social Work at the University of Houston. He was quick witted and would make your sides hurt from laughing so hard. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
Rene is survived by his siblings, Carlos (Amy) Hernandez, Belinda (Freddy) Galvan, Hilda (Danny) Villegas, Joey Hernandez, Monique Hernandez, his beautiful daughter Elena Hernandez and grandson Henry Jackson.
The family, of Rene Hugo Hernandez, will honor his life and celebrate his memory with a memorial service at 2:00PM, Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel, 2210 Broadway St. Lubbock, TX 79401.
