Richard G. "Rick" Eby

Richard "Rick" G. Eby, age 71, of Monico, WI, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital. Rick was born in Rockford, IL, to the late George and Monica (Michael) Eby on September 15, 1951. He was married to Susan Holzkamp on October 13, 2007; she survives.
Rick grew up in Highland Park, IL. He was a 1969 graduate of the Layola Catholic Academy. He later attended the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, receiving his degree in Theatre Arts. After college, Rick owned and operated a tavern in Stevens Point for several years before moving to Deadwood, SD, where he worked at No. 10 Saloon, a job he truly enjoyed. He then moved East where he was a broadcast engineer for several large radio stations. Always having a love for the Northwoods, Rick moved to Rhinelander in 1992. He bought his house in Monico in 1993 where he resided for almost 30 years. Rick's greatest love was fishing. He loved hunting and was a talented rugby player. He enjoyed to socialize, had a great sense of humor, and loved spending time with his many friends and family members.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Eby, of Monico, WI; his sons, Dave (Tiffany) Stewart, of Tomahawk, Eric (McKenzie) Eby, of Rhinelander, WI, and Travis Eby, of Wausau, WI. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Jackelyn (Jonas Shepherd) Stewart, Kailee (Deegan) Stewart, and Sonya Eby, and his great-granddaughter, Audreyna Shepherd. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, George and Monica; his uncle, John Michael; and his aunts, Mary Michael and Ruth Michael.
In accordance with Rick's wishes, no formal services will be held. A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
