CROMWELL, IN -Richard "Rick" Anthony Flecker, a man of unwavering resolve and boundless heart, passed away on August 3, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on June 17, 1956, in
Alexandria, Indiana, Rick was the beloved son of Jim and Evelyn (Ault) Flecker, and he is survived by his mother. He is the cherished brother of Michael (Shawn) Flecker and Rhonda (Jeff) Harmon.
Rick's childhood in Alexandria was filled with joy and adventure, memories he held dear and often recounted with a twinkle in his eye. He attended St. Mary's School and was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School-Class of 1974. Rick was also a graduate of Vincennes University. He married the love of his life, Donna Kay Boger, on April 12, 1986. Together, they were blessed with a son, James (Jennifer) Flecker, whose blond hair and blue eyes brought immense pride and happiness to Rick. He was blessed later in life to learn of an extended family, Ashley (Tyler) Love and her son Aiden Adams that he was fortunate to share many joyful memories with in the last few years.
Rick's hobbies reflected his zest for life: he cherished fishing trips with his best friend since high school, Randy Inglis, and had an eclectic taste in music, with a particular fondness for the Rolling Stones. He was also an avid fan of the latest movies and TV series, always staying up-to-date with popular culture.
Professionally, Rick was a dedicated and hard worker, respected and loved by his work families, particularly at his final workplace, Finish Works. Known for his perseverance, Rick never believed in giving up, no matter how tough the circumstances. He was a problem-solver, a listener, and a helper, never losing his temper and always ready to lend an ear or a hand.
Rick was a devoted husband, loving father, dependable friend and loving family member whose love knew no bounds. He was especially fond of his newfound relatives, and his generous spirit touched everyone he met. His legacy is one of kindness, strength, and an indomitable spirit. He leaves behind a family who adored him and friends who will miss his warm smile and infectious laugh. Rick's life was a testament to the power of love, the importance of family, and the strength of the human spirit. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services to honor Rick's life and legacy will take place at 5 pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street,
Alexandria, IN. Cremation will follow the service with private interment in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria at the convenience of the family. The Flecker family will receive friends after 3 pm prior to the service in the funeral home.
