Richard Frey Obituary

Richard Joseph Frey, affectionately known as Dick, was born on January 15, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio. After a fulfilling life that spanned nearly 88 years, he left this world on August 18, 2025. Dick's journey began in a city that would remain dear to his heart throughout his lifetime.

A proud graduate of Elder High School, Dick went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army. Following his military service, he devoted his career to the Cincinnati Public School District as a dedicated Plant Operator, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and students alike.

Dick's passions extended beyond his professional life. He was a skilled woodworker and had a keen knack for fixing old cars, particularly his beloved 1957 Ford Fairlane Convertible. His quiet yet thoughtful demeanor made him an engaging storyteller, and he relished sharing the tales of his life with family and friends. His passion for gardening was evident in his immaculate yard and Bonsai plants, where his perfectionist touch truly shone.

At the center of Dick's universe was his family, which he considered his proudest accomplishment. He is survived by his children: Terri Frey, Richard (Becky) Frey, and Douglas (Melissa) Frey. He was a loving grandfather to Douglas (Brittany), Kelsey (Travis), Cody, Jessica (Ty), Nathan, and William, and took great joy in being a great-grandfather to Jaeleigh, Presley, Weston, and Dax.

Dick's legacy will continue through his family and the cherished memories they hold. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Agnes T. Frey (nee McLaughlin), and his brothers Tony Frey, Lenny Frey, and Ronald Frey. The bonds of love and respect he cultivated during his lifetime will undoubtedly continue to influence all who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at St. Dominic Church (Gathering Space) located at 4551 Delhi Road, Cincinnati, Ohio. A Mass will follow at 10:00 AM in the main church, with interment to take place at St. Joseph New Cemetery at 11:15 AM.

Dick Frey will be remembered not only for his quiet strength and thoughtfulness but also for the love he shared and the laughter he inspired. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to family that will be cherished for generations to come.
