Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Richard Alma Harris, age 89, has returned home.

He was born to Alma and Florence Harris, November 21, 1934, in Brigham City, Utah. He was raised in Harrisville, Utah. He graduated from Weber High School in 1953.

He served in the US Army Airborne as a paratrooper, he also served in the Air Force Reserves as a Master Sergeant, working in Logistics. He worked at Hill Air Force Base as a program analyst, retiring from there in 1990.

Richard married Shirley Mae Phipps on February 22, 1958. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Shirley was the love of his life, he met her two weeks after he returned from the services, and both never looked back.

Together they had six children. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life. He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to hunt and fish and play sports. He was a great father who would involve his whole family in camping and hunting. He taught them the values of the great outdoors and to respect the rules of the land. He always lived life to the fullest and he spent many hours working with his family to do the same.

Richard is survived by his six children, Julie Hoskins, Nancy (Scott) Wilkinson, Richard Harris, Suzanne (Kenny) Waterbury, Jenifer (Jeff) Sessions, and Jeff Harris; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Connie Ellis. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Mae; son-in-law, Russ Hoskins; his parents, Alma and Florence Harris; and his sisters, Marilyn (Bill) Garner, Carole (Tom) Lee, and Deanna (Earl) Sellers.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to thank Intermountain Hospital in Tremonton and the hospice team from Cassie County Hospice for the care they gave him.
