Family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 3rd, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home. Richard had many passions and with his sudden illness and passing, it is requested that memorials be made in care of his family, so they may thoughtfully honor those passions dearest to him.
Born May 28, 1967, to Charles and Lois (Bingham) Johnson, Richard passed away May 29, 2025, one day after his 58th birthday, at the University of Nebraska Buffett Cancer Center surrounded by his family.
Richard graduated from Twin Cedars High School in 1985. From there he pursued a Diesel Mechanics Degree from Indian Hills Community College. He had several jobs over the years and most recently delivered propane for Two Rivers Cooperative. He loved his job, his Two Rivers family, and all the friends he made along the way. Richard married the love of his life, Valerie Hoch, on December 24, 1991. His family grew and he was blessed with two children: Rachel (Chance) Mayfield and Garould Johnson; and six grandchildren: True, Kaden, Asher, and Charleigh Mayfield, and Martin and Doug Johnson.
In spare time, Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing, and sharing his catch with family and friends at his annual fish fry. Most importantly spending time with his family and friends. Richard was larger than life; his big personality, generous nature, and welcoming smile made him easy to talk with. He also loved working on the farm with his wife.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years; two children; six grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Lois; parents-in-law, Michael and Sharon Hoch; bonus father-in-law, Ben Shinn Jr.; brother, Martin; great nephew, Hayden Bacus; and many other relatives.
