Richard Vito Larkin, 61, passed away April 8th 2024. Rich was born April 13th 1962 in Pleasantville, NY to father Richard (deceased) and mother Josephine (Cannizzaro) Larkin.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa (Himes) Larkin; son, Nicholas and daughter-in-law, Kylla; and granddaughter,
Zoe Grayce, who very quickly became the love of his life.
He had no greater joy than spending time, showing love, and providing support to his family. Rich needed each of them to know how much he loved them every day, and they made his heart full.
Rich graduated from Shaker High School in Latham, NY and earned a BS from Rochester Institute of Technology and an MS from SUNY Brockport. At RIT, he served as Activities Board Director.
Rich was an Associate Professor at Finger Lakes Community College for 32 years, providing his students with mentorship and support that went far beyond the classroom.
He also loved music and played in the bands Weekender and Unaccounted 4 with great friends for 22 years. Rich loved coaching Nick and his friends in baseball and volleyball.
He had cherished memories of working at the Algonquin in Bolton Landing and serving as a Captain for Captain Gray's Boat Tours on Canandaigua Lake. Rich loved living in the Finger Lakes and cherished his home on Keuka Lake where he enthusiastically entertained family and friends. He loved boating and fishing, though he would have loved catching more.
Rich was an avid (and competitive) game player. It's a Larkin thing:) He was the undisputed Farkle champion, and his preparation for charades was unmatched. His famous "cakes of pan" greeted guests in the morning and a blazing bonfire warmed all guests in the evening.
Rich was at peace as he made time to tell all the people in his life that he loved them. His mission in life was to raise others up and watch them soar.
He will be missed and remembered every day. In lieu of a service, a gathering of friends and family will be announced at a later time.
