Obituary for Dr. Richard Li
March 18, 1968 – January 12, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected loss of Dr. Richard Li, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, healer, and friend. Richard passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the age of 56. His presence, guidance, and love will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Richard was born on March 18, 1968, in Beijing, China, to Dr. Zhengxin Li and Ruby Zhao. From an early age he exhibited an aptitude for academics and athletics. Richard excelled in swimming, and he was a student of science and medicine. In his pursuit of knowledge and opportunity, he emigrated first to Canada, and then to Portland, Oregon, where he earned a doctorate degree in chiropractic medicine from Western States Chiropractic College. It was there that he met Dr. Tammy Woller, the love of his life. They married on April 7th, 2000, and together they built their loving family.
Richard and Tammy moved to Naperville, Illinois, where they raised three children-Nyah (22), Jaden (16), and Makaelynn (13). They co-founded iHealth Wellness Clinic providing chiropractic care and serving as a trusted health resource for many. They offered both physical care and a welcoming environment for clients and friends alike. Richard had an enduring love for his profession. He was a masterful diagnostician who gleaned fulfillment from being present and available for his patients. Richard's passion for helping others, his wisdom, and the couple's collaborative approach to treating those in need shaped their practice into a pillar of the Naperville community.
Richard took a disciplined approach to life. He masterfully balanced professional endeavors with a love of family, food, and sport. Richard was a devoted father. He derived joy from sharing his passions with his children. He routinely imparted pearls of fatherly advice during long drives to tennis. Richard enjoyed tennis as a sport, and more so still, as a shared bond with his children through which he adeptly conveyed many of the values that he held most dear. Richard demonstrated his love for others through cooking. Friendly gatherings were enriched by his creativity in the kitchen. He took special satisfaction in the pleasure that he observed in others enjoying his meals. While Chinese cuisine was a favorite, he was an equally accomplished saucier and grill-master. His cooking was a hallmark of togetherness and intertwines a tapestry of shared memories that endure.
Richard was baptized into Christ October 2001, and Christian love served as the foundation for his relationships with those who knew him. His hospitality, humor, and generosity led to lasting friendships. He was a gracious listener and swiftly offered guidance, perspective, and advice.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Dr. Tammy Woller-Li; their three children, Nyah, Jaden, and Makaelynn; his parents, Ruby Zhao and Dr. Zhengxin Li; his sister, Grace (Steve) Greshner; his mother-in-law, Donna Woller; brothers-in-law, Dr. Scott (Patricia) Woller, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Timothy (Cathy) Woller and nieces and nephews, Daphne and Esther Li-Chen, Rev. Spencer (Kayla) Woller, 2d Lt. Stuart (Reilly) Woller, and Raymond, Christopher, Isabela, and Gunnar Woller. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Eugene Woller.
A visitation will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church, WELS, 2567 W. Sullivan Road, Aurora, Illinois, on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Christian funeral service will occur Saturday, January 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Church.

Dr Li was a man, who helped me through my life in the past year by giving me support in processing positive thoughts and encouragement. He and Dr Tammy were life savers in my journey with chronic pain. He loved to debate me on political issues, which I must admit, he actually made sense! Dr Li, my prayers for your soul and especially to your loving Family. You made a difference in my life! Thank you and God Bless.
