Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson Spring Grove Funeral Home on Dec. 2, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts we share the passing news of Richard T. Maliszewski, age 37, of Spring Grove, who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Richard was born on Friday, May 27, 1988, to Robert and Deborah (Moretti) Maliszewski, Sr. He was a 2006 graduate of Richmond-Burton High School and continued his education for a short time at McHenry County College before deciding to pursue full-time work.
Richard found his place at Hydraulics Services & Repair in Spring Grove, where he was a dedicated and valued employee, until health issues prevented him from continuing. A passionate sports fan, Richard cheered loudly for the Philadelphia Eagles and was an avid follower of the Chicago Blackhawks. He loved playing hockey and league volleyball spending many enjoyable summers competing at KC's Cabin and Halftime. In the winter he played ice hockey. Whether watching or playing- sports were a joyful part of his life. Richard was a loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, and friend. He was loved more than he ever realized and will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and cared for him.
Survived by his loving parents; brother, Robert Maliszewski, Jr.; sisters, Megan (Taylor) Halm; Amy Maliszewski; maternal grandmother, Norma Moretti; niece Kelsea Halm; nephew, Landon Halm.
Preceded by his paternal grandparents; maternal grandfather.
The family kindly requests that donations be made to help offset final expenses and to give Richard the heartfelt sendoff he deserves. Contributions may be made through GoFundMe; Crowdfunding; or directly to Thompson Spring Grove Funeral Home.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church, 25225 W. Ivanhoe Road, Wauconda, IL 60084.
