It is with great sadness that I share the news of Richard's passing. He slipped away peacefully early in the morning of June 27, 2024.
Richard was deeply loved over the past 42 years of marriage. He enjoyed his life of travel, hunting, and fishing. He loved his career and the people he worked with, especially those in the Oroville office. The photo I'm sharing is how I always see him. Age takes away youth, but our mind's eye always sees the youth and health in those we love. In his retirement years, Richard taught Bob Ross-style oil painting. Richard made friends wherever he went, and lifelong friends came from those he taught. He loved helping neighbors and enjoyed sitting in his driveway chatting with them. There was never a lack of stories being shared. Our new neighborhood introduced him to those who accepted him and he continued the driveway chats. It never mattered where he was - the driveway made it home. Friday night dinners and neighborhood parties made Magalia his piece of heaven.
He loved his family and those not related who became his family. He was a stepdad who became a dad to Damon, Amy, Aaron, and Dan. He loved their spouses and would look forward to hearing or seeing them. He loved Taylor, Lachlan, and Bridget. What they were doing kept him entertained. Always something going on with those three. I will miss him. They will miss him. His nephew Scott will most certainly miss him. Scott would call him often and he looked forward to those calls. Missy and Freckles will miss his hugs, walks, and the lap time.
We are planning a Memorial in CA in late summer or early fall. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be directed to Granny Rose Animal Shelter in Dixon.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
