Richard P. Pointe, Self-Appointed Mayor of Davis, Michigan, and a Union electrician, passed away on May 13, 2024, at the age of 81 in Detroit, Michigan. Born on October 10, 1942, to Stanley and Pearl (Taylor) Pointe in Detroit, Michigan, Richard's journey was one of dedication, service, and cherished moments with loved ones.
After graduating from Denby High School in Detroit in June of 1960, Richard wasted no time in answering his nation's call. In August of the same year, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with honor until his honorable discharge in October 1963. Following his military service, Richard was proud to have worked at Stroh's Brewery before embarking on a successful career as an electrician, proudly affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union #58 of Detroit. His dedication and hard work were recognized with honors for over 30 years of unwavering service.
Richard's true joy in life, however, came from the time spent with his beloved family. Many memories were made bantering with his late brother, Tom, and brother-in-Law Glen over politics, religion and just about any other subject with varied opinions. Richard truly enjoyed spending time as a young man at Stag Island, along with his sister, Sharon and late brother, Tom. He found solace and camaraderie at The Golden Eagle Bar and Grill in Rochester Hills, where he was affectionately dubbed "King Richard." known for his unwavering opinions and trademark Greek fisherman hats, Richard was a charismatic man of strong will, opinions and indomitable spirit.
Richard leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his cherished children, Rich (Michele) Pointe and Nicole Brooks; adored grandchildren, Drew, Sarah, Savannah, Brayden, Dillon, Caden, and Justin; beloved sister, Sharon Burkett; nieces, Emily, Bridget, and Winnie; nephew, Jeremy; and cousin, Shirley Terry. He is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Pearl Pointe; brother, Tom Pointe; and niece, Sheila.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at Kaatz Funeral Home in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM, with a sharing of memories at 6:00 PM.

Richard was my journeyman way back in 99 when I was an apprentice. Great guy with a great sense of humor. He was very generous and always had a good time. Prayers to the family

Richard always had a smile on his face even when he maybe ailing. When I saw him at Shelby Crossing while I visited my husband ,Richard would say "I feel like I've been treated like a celebrity here". The last time I wheeled my husband down to see Richard ,they had already sent him back to the hospital. May he rest in peace.
