Richard Jonathan Schneider Jr.

Pawleys Island, SC: It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Rick Schneider, with his family by his side, on March 15th, 2024.
Rick is survived by wife Dawn Graham Schneider and their loving dog Snickers; father Richard Schneider (Pawleys Island, SC); mother Cece Schneider (Pittsford, NY); brother Steve Schneider; sisters Chrissy Schneider and Jenny (Chris) Ryan; nephews Patrick and Brennan Ryan; nieces Maggie, Ashley, and Allie Ryan; step-brother Jeff (Jamie) Huff and nieces DeAnna and Taylor Huff; sister-in-law Mary Doherty; nephews Christopher and Andrew Doherty; brother-in-law John Graham; nieces Lauren and Amanda Graham; aunts Charlene (Tom) Murphy and JoAnn Ackerson, as well as many, many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death and now reunited with his beloved grandparents John and Marie Schneider and Cecil and Carmella Catlin, step-father Joe Huff, and several aunts and uncles. Family was everything to Rick and his love and devotion was felt far and wide.
Rick was born on June 9th, 1966 and grew up in Pittsford, NY and always had a profound love for his hometown. A 1984 graduate of Pittsford Mendon High School and a 1988 graduate of St. Bonaventure University, Rick then spent many years living in New York City. After working in Marketing and Advertising at New York University and Ogilvy & Mather, and receiving a Sports Marketing certificate from NYU, he decided to pursue his true calling by becoming an educator. He attended Auburn University where he received a Masters in Education degree in 1997. As a lifelong learner with a strong desire to help others, Rick became an elementary school teacher in the South Bronx, a location where he felt he could have the most impact, and where he taught for many years. He had a gift and passion for teaching and had a lasting impact as a teacher, mentor, and coach to countless children. Rick was very proud to create an inter-school basketball league where he enjoyed coaching the girls and boys teams and could instill life lessons through teamwork and perseverance. He made learning fun and taught his students the importance of hard work and the belief that they could do anything they set their minds to. We are so grateful for the many lives he touched.
Upon retirement, Rick and Dawn left the Bronx and relocated to Pawleys Island, South Carolina where they enjoyed life at the beach, family time, becoming first-time dog parents, and a slower pace of life with warmer weather.
A lifelong, avid sports enthusiast, Rick was a huge fan of the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills, as well as his alma mater teams, the St. Bonaventure Bonnies and the Auburn Tigers. He was a season ticket holder and anyone who ever attended a game or concert with him would appreciate that he was always committed to throwing the best tailgate parties and cookouts. Rick had a zest for life and lived with joyful adventure - from concerts to camping, days at the beach or in the big city, he knew how to make life fun and everyone close to him is privileged to be forever affected by his playful spirit and love for family, friends, and fun. A true kid at heart, Uncle Rick was the greatest supporter and ambassador of fun and of magical and spirited adventure to his nieces and nephews, who love him very much.
As a fiercely loyal, generous, loving, and devoted son, brother, husband, uncle, cousin, friend, and teacher, we are all forever blessed for the time we shared with Rick and will carry beautiful memories with us and always remember to find the fun and adventure in life because we learned that from him. He was the greatest gift to all who knew him and will forever be deeply and profoundly missed. "Fare you well, we love you more than words can tell."
A memorial mass and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rick's loving memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause that he generously supported, or to his beloved alma mater, St. Bonaventure University Athletic Department.
