Canandaigua – Richard D. Spiehler, age 87, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, November 3, 2022, with his family by his side. He is survived by three children, Theresa Downham, Ann Windes (Cameron Haller) and David Spiehler; three grandchildren, Brady, Paige and Emma; dear friend, Jeannie Randall. Richard was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Ruth J. Spiehler in 2004; and his dog, Puppers in 2022.
Richard was born and raised in Evanston, IL and was the son of Adolph and Myrtle (Kennedy) Spiehler. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Richard served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960. After his military discharge, he met his future wife Ruth, and they moved from Wyoming to Rochester. Richard worked as a sales representative in the medical supply field his entire career.
He enjoyed golfing, tennis and fishing. Richard was a former member of the Canandaigua County Club. He was a classic car enthusiast, loved to travel and wintered in Florida.
Friends may call Wednesday, from 5 to 7pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ontario County Humane Society, 2976 Co. Rd. 48, Canandaigua, NY 14424 or the Canandaigua Emergency Squad, 233 N. Pearl St., Canandaigua, NY 14424. Condolences may be offered at www.johnsonkennedy.com.
