Richard "Rick" Travis, age 84 passed away on August 7, 2024 in Westerville, Ohio. Born in Columbus, Ohio on June 28, 1940 Rick was a proponenet of higher education and encouraged his children and grandchildren to aspire to life long learning. He enjoyed reading, leading bible study, and talking to friends new and old. He was a wonderful and caring father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was always ready with advice and a listening ear.
He earned his Bachelors degree in Education in 1962 and his Masters degree in 1982 from The Ohio State University.
His career in commerical sales and leadership roles took him to various locations in the midwest. In 1980 he returned to Columbus as a special education teacher with Columbus City Schools.
He was preceeded in death by his brother, Ronald C. Travis; his mother, Ruth E. Travis and his father, Richard C. Travis. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Travis. They were married 61 years. He was also survived by his children, Marsha Robinson (Dan) and Scott Travis and his grandchildren, Travis(Beth), Chris, Emma, Nina, Brooke(Buddy), Madilyn and his great-grand children,, Lincoln and Penelope.
His visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15th from 2pm-4pm and from 6pm-8pm. The funeral will be Friday, August 16th at 1pm. Both will be held at Moreland Funeral Home in Westerville, Ohio. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery.
