Richard Ross Vickers

Richard Ross Vickers was born on August 28, 1936, and passed away peacefully on July 19, 2023, at Community Hospital Anderson. He was a lifelong resident of Anderson. Dick graduated from Anderson High School and went on to study Civil Engineering at Purdue University.
He worked as a bridge engineer for the Indiana State Highway Department and was the property manager for Vickers Apartments. Dick developed and manufactured a tool that is widely used in the concrete finishing of bridge surfaces.
Dick was a 32nd Degree Master Mason for 50 years, and as a Shriner, he enjoyed participating in parades driving his Mini-Car. In his later years, Dick enjoyed playing Texas Hold-Em where he was known as "Dirty Dick".
Dick is survived by his children Richard and Patricia of Anderson, IN, Michael (Clara) Vickers, and grandchildren, Hannah and Rachel of California. He is also survived by his brothers Robert (Nancy) Vickers of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Philip (Margie) Vickers, and his sister Denise Lennen-Haskett of Anderson along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Dick's youngest son Patrick Vickers along with his father Robert and mother Naomi preceded him in death.
Public visitation will be Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Loose Funeral Home 200 West 53rd Street Anderson, IN.
