Richard Gale Wade Jr., beloved Husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away late Friday evening on March 31, 2023.
He was born October 9, 1948, in Ogden, Utah to Richard Gale Wade Sr. and Marilyn Ruth Bruerton Wade. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School and attended Weber State University.
On April 23, 1971, he married Brenda J. Palmer in Ogden UT and were later sealed for time and all eternity in an LDS Temple. They were blessed with three sons, Brian (Amanda), Bradley, and Jonathan (Melinda). Richard and Brenda enjoyed spending time with their 11 grandkids: Braxton, Scott, Breana, Ereka, Alexa, Kalynn, Braylee, Ethan, Jackson, Emmett, Abigail and one great-grandchild: Kayson.
Richard hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1974 where he later retired in 2008 as a Conductor. He served in the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years and was awarded the Silver Beaver for his dedication to the scouting program. He enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, photography, astronomy, and genealogy. As a long-time scout master, he was instrumental in guiding many of his scouts in obtaining their rank of Eagle Scout. In cooperation with the Pony Express Trail Association, Richard was heavily involved in helping his scouts map, document, and erect trail signs of the original pony express trail through western Utah.
Richard was a proud member of the Potawatomi tribe and, like his father before him, ensured his children were enrolled as tribal members and taught about their Potawatomi heritage.
Richard served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City at the family history center. His passion was doing genealogy both for his church and for his family.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Richard Gale Wade Sr. and Marilyn B. Wade. He is survived by his wife Brenda of 52 years, three sons Brian, Bradley, and Jonathan, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also, his two sisters Suzanne Dickey, Kris (Neil) Hood, and one brother James (Larue) Wade.
The Family would like to thank the staff at Stonehenge Rehab for helping make Richards last few weeks comfortable.
