Richard Wakefield was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, February 9, 1937, to an Irish Catholic family and had two brothers and two sisters, Joanne, Barrett, Marylou and Kenneth. The family lived in Oregon during World War II and later moved back to Dunlap, Iowa, and then to Omaha, Nebraska.
Rich joined the U.S. Marine Corps, served in San Diego, CA, Camp Lejeune, NC, and in Okinawa at the end of the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1959. He worked in Omaha as a printer and later in computer software.
Rich married Rosalie (Sukup) in 1965 and with their two children, Bernadette and Daniel, they later moved to Beaverton, Oregon in 1977 where Rich worked for Tektronix and later for Comcast until his retirement.
Richard died at the age of 85 on June 8, 2022, at Maryville Nursing Home in Beaverton, Oregon.
