Richard A. Wienczkowski, 80, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Monday October 3, 2022 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie on December 23, 1941 a son of the late Edward and Anna Runser Wienczkowski.
Rick graduated from Erie Tech and worked for the Hammermill Paper Company as an Off Machine Winder for 22 years until his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and the La Nuova Aurora Club. He was a longtime Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed fishing, camping, being outdoors, and taking car rides.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Robert Wienczkowski.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Donna Anselmo Wienczkowski; two daughters, Sherri Madara (Gordon) and Katherine Wienczkowski, all of Erie; one son, Richard Wienczkowski (Janell) of Erie; five grandchildren, Ryan Hilyer, Andrew Madara, Jacob Wienczkowski, Erin Wienczkowski, and Tammy Gorman; two great grandchildren, Colton Madara and Jayden Gorman; his twin sister, Rose Zaffino, of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at St. Joseph Church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be private in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, wwwstjude.org.
