Mr. Richard "Skipper" Wilder, 52, passed away on October 16, 2023, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Skipper was born on December 31, 1970, in West Point, to Barbara Criddle Wilder and the late James Richard Wilder. Skipper attended West End Baptist Church. He had a love of music. He loved people, but especially his mother. He was a loving son, brother, nephew, and cousin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Troy and Dola Criddle, his paternal grandfather, Johnny B. Wilder, and paternal grandmother, Mildred McKinney.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset of Angels Cemetery in Clay County. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara Wilder: sister, Brandy Snell (Laricco) of West Point: brother, Chad Wilder of West Point: two aunts, Linda Henderson (Victor) of West Point and Patsy Bennett of Columbus, and three uncles: Tommie Criddle of Conroe, Texas, Reggie Wilder (Dusty) of Alabaster, Alabama, and Robin Wilder of Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be Chad Wilder, Tommie Criddle, Laricco Snell, Gregory Bennett, Brian Turner, and John Turner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Ned Miller, Jim Andrews, Jarriott Bennett, Tyler Turner, and the nurses and staff of North Mississippi Medical Center Critical Care Unit in Tupelo.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
